Responsible for materials management of inventory levels, projects and customer orders.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
maintaining equipment purchase orders, selecting vendors, negotiating pricing, follow up on manufacturer ship dates, invoice approvals, processing equipment returns, managing inventory and maintaining appropriate stock.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate order schedule with Project Managers based on product availability and construction schedules Issue purchase orders to obtain all job-related equipment and services at the lowest cost with a focus on total value Responsible for ensuring that all orders are processed accurately within five business days of order release date Collaborate with the Sales Team to obtain quotes from purchasing sources for bids Communicate price increases in a timely manner to the Sales Team and Project Managers to adjust pricing and order schedule accordingly Maintain a good relationship with the company's vendors and distributors Negotiate contracts with vendors, identifying ideal suppliers based on quality, cost and reliability Resolve problems that arise in relation to delivery dates, quality, quantity or cost of purchased goods and services Review discrepancies in invoices which are not in agreement with purchase orders Responsible for processing return or resale of unused or incorrect equipment Obtain manufacturer shipping schedule on all equipment ordered and relay estimated delivery time to the Project Manager and team Recommend alternate suppliers where a savings in cost or improved delivery will result Assist with inventory count and reconciliation on a monthly basis Work with warehouse manager to generate quarterly inventory turns per year Maintain inventory levels through blanket orders and project forecasting Recommend productivity ideas to the warehouse manager to attain maximum efficiency Purchase office supplies as needed Working to improve purchasing and inventory processes Ensure a safe working environment and that all activities are in compliance with company policies and practices Responsible for contributing to the achievement of department goals
Qualifications:
The Purchasing and Inventory Manager shall possess a minimum of two years purchasing experience, with preference for construction or project-based purchasing experience.
This person must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, have superior math and critical thinking skills.
Individual must have good communication skills, self-starter and the ability to perform and complete high quality work.
Travel:
No travel required.
(Optional for vendor events and training - INFOCOMM in Las Vegas every 2nd year).
Additional Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be responsible, self-starter, personable and well-organized.
Superior customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse groups.
Proficiency in the use of personal computers including such programs as Google Workspace and QuickBooks.
Ability to demonstrate planning, organizing and implementing skills which allow the successful completion of a project by a specific due date.
Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations.
Must be able to read and effectively interpret general business documentation.
Valid and current drivers license.
Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements:
Employee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers.
Some light lifting of objects is required.
Reaching, grasping and carrying activities are also required.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
