Fieldstone Utah is part of the Fieldstone Group of Companies ("TFG") that began operations in 1981 and has sold over 35,000 homes since inception in Utah, California and Texas.
Fieldstone Utah began operations in Utah in 1998 and has constructed and sold over 3,200 homes in the Greater Salt Lake market, making it the 3rd largest homebuilder in Utah over the past fifteen year period and today is ranked in the top 10.
Fieldstone Utah has a dual future strategy of both homebuilding operations and land sale operations (the acquisition of raw land for entitlement, development and sale).
Fieldstone Utah is capitalized with a combination of internal equity, project level joint venture equity, long-term debt and project level secured loans.
TFG recently made the decision to focus all of its future homebuilding and related operations in the greater Salt Lake City area of Utah and as part of this decision is also relocating all of its corporate and centralized financial operations to Utah.

Position Summary
Title: Director of Financial Services
The position will be the top financial person in Fieldstone Utah and also responsible managing other financial needs within TFG
A key member of Fieldstone Utah's executive team with participation in all management meetings and developing strategies
Overall responsibility for the following areas:
o Accounting and quarterly and annual financial reporting (GAAP Basis)
o Income tax planning and compliance (working with outside CPA's)
o Business planning, projections and cash management
o Information for Quarterly Board meetings
o Managing a staff of 3-5 persons (This position will have the responsibility to structure and hire the Fieldstone Utah financial team)
o Working directly with operational management as to land acquisitions, project level projections, budgets and general business planning
o Insurance and risk management
o Employee benefits and payroll
Future roles will include:
o Working with and providing information directly to owners and other private investors ("Investor Relations")
o Originating and managing acquisition, development and construction loans and originating and joint venture capital
o Other CFO related roles
This position will report directly to TFG's president with a dotted line to the Fieldstone Utah President.
Background and Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration
CPA certificate
Minimum 3 years of experience with a Big 4 or national CPA firm
Minimum 2 years of experience in private industry as a controller or similar role
Experience with state and federal income taxes
Ability to communicate complex and technical matters in a clear and simple manner
Ability to manage multiple tasks, direct reports and work with multiple managers in other departments
Compensation Summary:
Compensation will be competitive in the market and commensurate with experience and background and consist of:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AS TO RESPOSIBILITIES
Overall management of the accounting and finance departments
Since the Corporate and centralized financial functions are being relocated from California to Utah, this position will be responsible for developing structure and allocation of responsibilities for the 3-5 direct reports, and hiring these positions. Existing staff in California will assist with this transition.
Financial reporting - Annual and quarterly financial reporting on a GAAP basis involving multiple entities and levels of consolidation, including the overall consolidated TFG parent company, including:
o Draft cover letters and other communications
o Audits and reviews with outside CPAS firms
o Maintaining technical qualifications
Annual financial projections ("Business Plans) and quarterly updates (project level, entity and consolidated levels) and comparisons to actual results
Cash management and investment including cash projections and short-term investment alternatives
Income taxes - working with outside CPA firm for tax planning, tax projections, and supporting information for annual tax returns, quarterly filings and quarterly tax payments (Dealing with State tax matters in Utah and California and federal taxes
Developing and managing company G/A budgets
Management of payroll and employee benefits department, annual welfare plan audits and negotiating annual contracts
Support for lender and Investor relations, LLC agreements and related matters
Support for quarterly Board meetings
Overall risk management including tracking portfolio level financial metrics, negotiating and managing GL and related insurance areas
Tracking and communicating various industry metrics
Working directly with operating managers to provide financial and operational information and support land acquisitions, projections, budgets and general business planning
Management and maintenance of internal controls and related internal systems
Directly involved with IT and related systems currently in the process of transition and enhancement
Certain "Corporate Secretary" responsibilities as to resolutions and compliance
It is the goal that the person in this position will also assume the following additional responsibilities over a period of time:
o Investor Relations - working directly with company owners and other private and institutional investors to provide for their information needs and to address periodic questions
o Bank loans - Manage existing relationships and develop new lending relationships, negotiate loan terms and provide period information.
o Joint Venture Partners - Manage existing relationships and develop new relationships, negotiate terms, management LLC compliance and attend periodic partner meetings
o Other CFO related responsibilities

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
