Reports To: Director of Guest Services
Pay Range: $7.25 to start. Following a 90 day assessment period the candidate may be eligible for an increase based on performance and experience.

Guest Service Hosts provide information and assist guests with ticket purchases for Aquarium admission through the front entrance. The duties of this position will rotate through various Aquarium attractions, including: Penguin Encounters, 4D Theater, Ticket scanning, Birthday Party attendend, and some special evening events.
Responsibilities:
Provides exceptional World Class internal and external Guest Service according to established guidelines.
Assists guests in a friendly and positive manner regarding Aquarium offerings, prices, information and directions.
Provides information and directions to guests regarding the Aquariums mission, vision, rules and events. Anticipates guest needs and answers questions from guests on the subject of general knowledge of procedures, locations, and information.
Utilize the computerized admission system Galaxy to issue tickets and items, and check event availability.
Up-sell additional items such as Membership, Penguin Encounters, Stingray feeds and Adoptions.
Collects cash or other payment from guests, determining amount due and change required.
Record payments, balance register utilizing Galaxy and other procedures when needed.
Performs routine accounting and money handling tasks related to receiving, recording and depositing payments.
Maintains an accounting record of all cash, coupons, promotional materials and donations received. Verify various payment vouchers, forms and documents.
Operates computer and other office equipment in an efficient and effective manner while answering phones and retrieving messages.
Remain productive and efficient while maintaining performance accuracy.
Project a professional image while in uniform and when using the radio.
Monitor and ensure a secure environment and report problems to supervisors.
Acts appropriately to clean up spills, trash or debris in their immediate area.
Comfortable receiving performance feedback from supervisors and guests.
Other duties as assigned.
Staff will be required to work weekends (yes that includes Sunday), holidays and some evenings. The Aquarium is only closed 2 days the entire year, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Schedules will be on a rotating basis and you may be asked to occasionally work beyond scheduled work hours. Staff may also provide crowd control if necessary during peak times.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Experience:
Successful candidates must have excellent oral communication skills and the ability to interact cheerfully with guests while working under considerable pressure in crowds and with high volume attendance days. . Good written communication skills are needed to prepare reports and take down information accurately and thoroughly.
Guest Service Hosts are required to meet high standards of Aquarium knowledge and customer service spot. In addition, they are required to complete an on-going program of continuing education in order to maintain a World Class level of customer service.
PHYSICAL SKILL AND EFFORT:
This position requires moderate physical effort on a daily basis such as walking, bending, stooping and standing for long periods and regular lifting of heavy objects up to 30 pounds. Guest Service Hosts must maintain their stations for extended periods and engage in rapid and repetitive hand motion. Guest Service Hosts require excellent hand/eye co-ordination and the ability to count out change and bills, rapidly and with accuracy.
The Guest Services candidate must have the ability to work for long periods at a computer keyboard, clear speech, and good audio skills.
PUBLIC CONTACT:
Heavy public contact is required, involving considerable interpersonal skill, extensive interaction with guests, members, donors, and other employees. A high degree of appreciation of customer service is necessary and a love and respect for animals is required.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
